Playing down an Iranian bargain

SecDef Gates, travelling in the Middle East  is downplaying the possibility of a ‘grand bargain’ with Iran calling the prospect “very remote.”  I think it doesn’t gates1hurt to keep the pressure on Tehran for an “understanding,” if not a grand bargain.  Still, it would be interesting to see how other Sunni Arab countries react (or, don’t react) to Obama’s recent overtures to Iran.  After all, there is no love lost between the Persians and the Arab world, and since the US is the devil the Arab states know, it might be in their best interest to keep the status quo in place.
