Coakley’s “Protect”

I saw this on TV last night:

Pro: Another strong ad by Team Coakley.  As my wife noted, “they took a scary issue (predators) and made it sunny.”  Plus, they hit that sweet spot of appealing to the soccer mom set (the largest population of voters, probably, on 8 December) while seeming tough on crime.

Con: A subtle two step in the ad – she said she’ll “strengthen cybersecurity in the Senate”, although cybersecurity has little to do with being tough on crime.  And what does that mean, anyways?

Instajudgment: I think this is a great spot – tough but not hard-edged.  I’d run this on all networks all the time.
